Apple Berry Crumble – on the grill Print Email

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup raw oats
6 cup sliced, peeled Fuji apples
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon, or a handful of cinnamon imperial candies
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
1/2 cup dried mixed berries, dried cherries, or dried cranberries
1/2 cup broken pecans, optional

In small bowl, combine flour and brown sugar, cutting in butter with a pastry blender to coarse crumb size. Gently fold in oats and set aside.

Combine apples through pecans, if using, and transfer to prepared metal pans, filling 3/4 full. Sprinkle evenly with oats mixture, and completely wrap each in a double wrap of aluminum foil. Grill with indirect medium heat until bubbling hot – one large pan takes about 45 minutes, and two 12-inch skillets will take about 20-25 minutes. Serves about 8 with iced or whipped cream.
