Grilled Balsamic Sweets Print Email

Great with almost any grilled meal, this simple recipe takes advantage of the season’s sweet onions and the sweet tang of Balsamico*.

Sweet onions - Texas 10/15’s, Walla Walla, Vidalia or Maui
Sweet balsamico
Olive oil
Salt and pepper

Slice onions to 1/2 inch thick and place on a plate. Drizzle with sweet balsamico and rub over both sides of all the onions with your finger. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Place onion slices over medium to low grill, turning carefully as needed, and cook until browned and tender.

* Balsamico di Modena is a sweet, syrupy Italian condiment - only balsamic vinegar of high quality is sweet enough to use. If using a lesser balsamic vinegar, add brown sugar and reduce to a syrup in a pan on the stove.
