White pound cake
Chocolate pound cake
warm strawberry coulis
whipped cream
Slice pound cake and display three slices on a small plate (if desired, drizzle judiciously with sweet marsala or sweet sherry). Spoon strawberry coulis over the top and serve with whipped cream (you can also sprinkle with chocolate shavings or drizzle with melted white, milk or dark chocolate).
Strawberry Coulis
3 pints strawberries
squeeze of lemon
maple syrup or honey to taste
1 Tbs. butter, melted
Clean strawberries and puree in blender or food processor. ÊTransfer to a sauce pan to warm. ÊAdd lemon juice and maple syrup or honey judiciously, tasting for a balance of acidity and sweetness. ÊShould be slightly sweeter than the cake. Stir in melted butter and serve.
