Marinated Berries Print Email

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup red wine
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 TBS lemon juice
1 pint raspberries
1 pint blueberries
1 pint blackberries

Bring sugar and water to a boil, reduce heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add wine, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Cool. Wash berries and drain thoroughly. Pour liquid over berries and marinate at least two hours. Chill slightly before serving in a wine goblet with a cookie and whipped cream, spooned over ice cream, as part of a parfait, or with grilled meats.
