What Makes Boar’s Head Better?

Our Production Techniques
Boar’s Head does things the old fashioned way. We use only the finest ingredients. Prime cuts of pork and beef that are trimmed by hand not be a machine and slow cooked to perfection.

We still insist on the same unwavering commitment to those standards we established long ago, standards mostly abandoned in a mass-produced world…cold cuts without scraps or extenders, without artificial flavors and colors.

Only the finest ingredients
At Boar’s Head, we search the world for the finest ingredients possible to put in our products. We never use anything that is almost good. Pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup. Cold cuts with no short cuts. Boar’s Head lunchmeats are only made from premium whole muscle meats, never chopped and formed, and free of growth hormones or steroids

How does Boar’s Head do it?
We trim off the fat, leaving you with all the taste and all the nutrition you buy deli meats for. With Boar’s Head, you get the real thing. An average of only .5-1.5 grams of fat per serving and NO binders.

How do other manufacturers do it?
They start with ham, turkey or roast beef and add an array of other ingredients: Binders (“fat replacing” ingredients) such as vegetable flour, carrageenan (made from seaweed), whey, dry milk powder and modified food starch.

These ingredients do two things:
1. Binders not only dilute the fat, they also dilute the protein and other nutrients
2. Binders hold water. Water is good, but you don’t have to buy it sliced at the
deli counter and pay meat prices for it.
