Tony's Fresh Turkeys
Every Thanksgiving thousands of families entrust Tony's to bring them the best fresh turkeys in town; and this is a responsibility we take seriously! Rather than bombarding you with a lot of puffery, we want to give you the facts as to why our turkeys are consistently great.
Breed: We grow the 'Nicolas' breed of turkeys, a bird with excellent genetics that produces a healthy, broad breasted bird that tastes great!
Raising Conditions: Our turkeys are raised without cages in large, open, covered pens with computer controlled air conditioning system that constantly provides fresh air of the ideal temperature. They receive a constant flow of fresh water and plenty of fresh grain. The stress-free conditions provided are idyllic for domestic turkeys; protecting them from the heat, sun, pests, predators, rain, unknown foods, and the diseases of wild birds.
Natural Grain Feeds: Our turkeys receive a combination of locally grown corn and soy meal. Every batch of grain is tested to assure it is free of pesticides and other undesirable residues, then it's milled into feed using a little fat as a binder. The exact blend constantly varies to assure perfectly balanced nutrition for every stage of the turkey's life.
Hormone, Antibiotic and Pesticide Free: No growth hormones are ever used in our turkeys. Also, processed birds are tested in both muscle and organ tissue to to assure they are completely free of growth hormones, antibiotics, pesticides and any other chemical residues.
Handling and Processing: Our growers follow a strict code of Animal Husbandry Ethics to assure our birds are handled humanely from hatchery to processing - our grower treats our birds with the utmost care and respect.
Fresh and Natural: Our turkeys are delivered fresh and without the use of preservatives or flavoring brines. Freezing damages poultry by breaking down cell walls which leads to a loss of natural moisture and dryer meat. Brines are used to make up for this lost moisture and increase weight. Called 'basted' or 'enhanced', we never sell any altered or injected fresh poultry.
No orders are needed! A few turkeys will be arriving the week before Thanksgiving for early feasters, and the bulk of our turkeys will arrive on the Monday before Thanksgiving. No orders are needed - just tell us how big a turkey you'd like, allow 1 to 1.5 lbs per person.
